I am walking around the island of Puerto Rico
My name is Julie š I live in Puerto Rico and Iām currently an quarantunemployed travel specialist with @compassandglobe travel.ā£
I havenāt had many tickets to book or itineraries to review since the beginning of the year so Iāve had quite a bit of time to think.ā£
Puerto Rico mornings are just that: riiiiiico. I found myself walking around my neighborhood in the early mornings and would expand my route each day until one time I walked to the next town over. ā£
I walked 100 miles during one month of quarantine and without any travel plans for the foreseeable future, I decided that I could keep walking. ā£
Sooooo, thatās what I am doing: walking around the 308-mile island of Puerto Rico, on foot, with a small backpack, hoping to inspire people to #optoutside and explore their own backyard this summer. In many ways for many people (myself included) itās my only feasible travel destination. ā£
Right now my thoughts are:ā£
Someday I will get on a plane again and travel to explore, eat, and chat with people from another place.ā£
Why not practice being a good traveler in my own backyard? Why not find the awe in what many of us find to be ordinary? Iām hoping to discover places that even 85-year-old locals donāt even know exist. At least Iāll try.ā£
So, thatās me. I think talking with locals is the quintessential bucket list check and eating my way around a place is the best souvenir.ā£
